# AI in the Workplace Statistics: What Workers Gain

Workers who use AI mostly report saving time. Fewer than half say their work got better, and only 28% of employees use AI weekly.

## Chart: Among US employees who use AI, 63% say it makes them faster but only 46% say it raises quality. Just 28% of all employees use AI weekly.

Share of US employees agreeing, %. Benefit items asked of employees who use AI at work; the violet bar is of all employees. Gallup survey fielded 26 Jan – 24 Mar 2026.

| Survey item | Share agreeing |
|---|---|
| AI helps me work faster | 63 |
| Find more creative solutions | 56 |
| Spend more time on interesting work | 47 |
| Produce higher-quality work | 46 |
| Took on more responsibilities | 31 |
| All employees: use AI at least weekly | 28 |

Note: Benefit questions asked of AI users only (n = 7,845, ±2 pts); weekly-use share is of all employees (n = 15,482). The violet bar has a different base from the others; it is shown for scale, not as one more benefit. Self-reported gains, not measured output.

## The signal

- **Census:** The Business Trends and Outlook Survey cycle to 6 Sept 2026, published 10 Oct 2026, puts firm AI use at 23.8% of US businesses.
- **Anthropic:** The Anthropic Economic Index survey (June 2026) finds 86% of surveyed Claude users report working faster, while only 27% report cost savings.

## The Mode read

Gallup asked US employees, between January and March 2026, what AI actually does for them at work. The question behind the numbers: does AI change the work, or only its pace?

Mostly the pace. Among employees who use AI, **63%** say it makes them faster and 56% say it helps them find more creative solutions. Below that, every item falls under half: 47% spend more time on interesting work, 46% produce higher-quality work, and only **31%** took on more responsibilities. And regular use is still a minority habit: just 28% of all employees use AI at least weekly.

Time saved by one person is easy to sell and hard to keep. It rarely shows up in a team's output or on a P&L, so it is easy to cut in a budget review. The products that last turn one person's habit into a team process a manager can see: shared templates, approvals, work that gets counted. The route is bottom-up: land with the 28% who already use AI each week, then make the result visible to the 72% who do not.

> Workers feel faster. Their companies have not yet seen the work change.

**What we would back:** Tools that turn one employee’s AI habit into a team workflow a manager can measure and pay for.
