# AI Productivity Statistics: What AI Users Say They Gain

Claude users say AI makes them faster and lets them take on more. Only 27% say it saves money: AI sells as more output, not lower cost.

## Chart: 86% of surveyed Claude users say AI makes them faster and 82% say it widens what they can do. Only 27% report cost savings.

Share of surveyed Claude users reporting each effect, %. Anthropic Economic Index survey report, June 2026.

| Reported effect | Share of users |
|---|---|
| Gain: speed | 86 |
| Gain: scope | 82 |
| Gain: quality | 69 |
| Learn more with AI | 68 |
| AI increased market value of my skills | 57 |
| Gain: cost savings | 27 |
| Rated own job loss likely/very likely | 10 |

Note: About 9,700 linked respondents; the sample over-represents computer and maths occupations. Self-reported, not measured productivity. Respondents are Claude users surveyed by Anthropic, so the sample leans toward people who already find AI useful. Self-reported effects, not measured output.

## The signal

- **Launches:** 6 model launches from 4 labs on 23 Sept 2026, including Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS and Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS.
- **Arena:** claude-opus-4-6-high leads the Arena coding board on the 13 Sept 2026 snapshot (Anthropic).

## The Mode read

New models arrive every week, and each launch promises productivity. Anthropic's Economic Index asked Claude users what actually changed for them. The question here: when AI helps, what kind of help is it?

It is mostly speed and reach. **86%** say they work faster and 82% say they can now do things they could not do before. 69% report better quality. Only **27%** report cost savings, and 10% rate their own job loss as likely.

That shapes how AI products should sell. A buyer who feels faster wants to do more, not spend less. A pitch built on cutting cost runs into the smallest number on this chart. A pitch built on what a team can now take on matches what users already report. Price it on the extra output, and sell it where the extra work has a buyer.

> Users feel AI as more output, not lower cost. Sell the expansion.

**What we would back:** Products priced on what a team can now take on, sold to buyers who already have more work than people.
